About This Pose

Sirsasana, known as the "King of Asanas," is an inverted pose where the body is balanced on the forearms and crown of the head. The inversion reverses the effect of gravity on the body, improving venous blood return, reducing leg swelling, and flooding the brain with oxygenated blood. Regular practice improves concentration, strengthens the entire upper body, and develops exceptional balance and body awareness.

Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps to practice Sirsasana safely

  1. 1

Kneel on the floor, interlace fingers, and place forearms on the ground

  2. 2

Place the crown of your head on the floor, cradled by your interlaced hands

  3. 3

Lift knees off the floor and walk feet toward the head

  4. 4

When hips are over shoulders, slowly lift one leg, then the other

  5. 5

Extend both legs straight up, engaging core throughout

  6. 6

Hold for 30 seconds to 5 minutes (build gradually)

  7. 7

Come down slowly, one leg at a time, and rest in Balasana
